On the Overtoom 16 in Amsterdam stands a beautiful old school building from 1891. The characteristic building has just been exceptionally renovated for office use and is named: Portage.
Owner and developer; Timeless Investments together with architect Ronald Hooft of architecture firm; Prast & Hooft had the idea to create something special for the long term. The building of 1.408 sqm was previously owned by the Amsterdam municipality and needed renovation badly when it was sold 3 years ago. Plans came together to transform the building into a sustainable modern open office (A-grade) but keeping the history, detail and class of the building. The hallways and stairs still breath the quality of an Amsterdam school of that era. Together with the renovation of the former classrooms with their double height ceilings, wooden floors and large windows on both sides, the feeling, light and spaciousness is extraordinary. Also, the former schoolyard gives an attractive outside courtyard on the back of the building next to the canteen area. As modern contrast to the building a glass façade was topped on a wing of the building, roof terraces were created, new windows were placed in the roof and an elevator was included.
The building is located at the intersection of the Overtoom and the Stadhouderskade next to the Leidseplein; easily accessible by car (with parking) and public transport.
Most importantly, the building lends itself perfectly for an art exhibition before it will function as office space. Timeless Investments supports Haute Auction by offering the space for the exhibition and auction.
